Hydropolis
The educational exposition Hydropolis is situated in a unique context of the Vinohrady Waterworks at Prague. As a part of the overall conversion, a complex exposition of the contemporary water treatment and purification technologies has been installed in one of the underground water reservoirs. Sustainable water management elements in the landscape are presented in the public space.
The motif of the project is the interaction of the man and nature. At this place, the man enters the environment water circulation process as a positive element that not only uses this process but helps to maintain it. The circulation of water features the central ideological and thematic axis of the exposition that is bound to individual environments and exhibits, always relating to the respective phase of the circulation. These are often functional technologies that are actively exploited in the process.
The content is communicated through the environment based on the space=medium concept. What is created in this way is not only a layered exposition for a broad target group, but also a platform for an interaction among the public, commercial and academic spheres, that, due to the complex design of the exposition, have been involved in the project from the very beginning. Thus, the project not only aims at informing on the water treatment and water management in the landscape, it also provides a vision of future challenges in this area.
