Educational Centre
Dialogue represents the fundamental principle of the design and the essence of the educational centre’s identity. It is essential to coexistence within society, serving as a means of seeking consensus, shaping cultural identity, and fostering relationships between individuals and communities. Likewise, it forms the foundation of informal education and of the centre’s operation itself.
In the architectural approach, dialogue manifests itself as a method of exploring conceptual and spatial relationships, grounded in authenticity and truthfulness. The design therefore removes later interventions from the building and reveals its authentic essence, which becomes the basis for further development. At the same time, it builds upon the values of Mocker’s concept, particularly its clarity of layout and symmetry, which are sensitively reinterpreted to meet the needs of a contemporary educational centre.
The principle of dialogue is also reflected in the building’s functional and spatial organisation. The public and educational sections operate as two independent yet interconnected entities, whose relationship gradually develops from visual contact to shared spaces. In this way, the proposal reinterprets the original dual nature of the canon residences’ layout and further develops it through a dialogue between public and educational functions.
